The province of Ilocos Sur has recently celebrated its Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. This year marks the province’s 193rds year. Kannawidan- is a local term for traditional practice. It was an occasion to strengthen the Ilocano Culture, recognize Ilocos Sur’s sons and daughters who brought honors to their province.  Kannawidan Festival 2014 was celebrated last January 29 to February 3. And there were lots of activities happened.

Kannawidan Festival is one of the best festival to watch. Because here you can feel the Ilocano culture. Residents displayed products under the One-Town-One-Product. Various festivities were staged from trade, agriculture, aqua and livestock while a display of farm products opened the six-day. To carve young talents in the field of arts, an array of talent competitions gathered the youth form choral, marching bands, traditional street dancing, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, folk dance, painting, design making and photo exhibits. A battle of brains and beauty was witnessed during the Saniata ti Ilocos Sur pageant.

Kannawidan is festivity which the City of Vigancelebrates every year. It was a fun-filled week of celebration of the Kannawidan Festival in Ilocos Sur.

New Year New Me

                             Since I was young some people says “New Year na! Magbago ka na!” And others asked “What is your New Year’s resolution?”  We used to asks and says this sentences. Well for me, as it is.

              

             AS  IT  IS? Maybe I will change some but not too much. I will lower my pride, higher my patience. Lesser my bad attitudes, upgrade my good attitude. I will be friendly to everybody. That’s me. That’s what I want. A SIMPLE CHANGE. A simple change that everyone will love. That everyone will be happy and satisfied because of who I am.

                      

                               Hoping that this year, it’ll be good enough. That I will gain more friends. That some of them will be happy because of me. Be matured enough. And wishing that one day, I’ll become a model to everybody.

                           Another period has ended. Second to the last period. Another period to complete the whole period of Fourth Year. Third Grading Period was fun and perfect. And it was exciting.

                  Many months and days had past. Last Grading and counting! Two more months and we’re gonna leave this school. Days are really so fast. I’m gonna miss this school so bad and this high school life. I hope that this fourth grading period will be the happiest one. Because it will be the last.

  

          

Essence of Christmas

                         Christmas is coming! I can now feel the essence of it. Wind blows so cold, houses are so bright, and of course children are caroling. For us, Christmas is the best and enjoyable holiday in the whole year. Wanna know why?

               Christmas is a Christian Holiday that is celebrated on December 25 in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ. This is where we do the caroling, applying Christmas decorations and Christmas lights to every house, where family unite and bond, where we get gift from others and give gift to others, where students are happy because of having long vacation. Christmas is really enjoyable, fantastic and wonderful holiday. Because here, we can feel the love of others, how others appreciate us, respect us and cared about us. It was really fun because after Christmas is New Year. Where you can hear and see fireworks at night. And of course, families that happily eating and bonding.

                 Last Christmas, I’m happy. But I can say that I’m much happier today than the past Christmas. Because I did not waste any day of our vacation. Instead, I just enjoyed and take every moment be perfect.

Climate Change

                What can you notice about our weather condition nowadays? It is changing, isn’t it? Sometimes cold, sometimes hot, sometimes cloudy and sometimes stormy. This problem or condition is simply called “CLIMATE CHANGE”.

            The weather we are facing today changes the people. Their moral, attitude and behaviour. Climate change caused by cycles of Earth. But even though climate changed, humans are still a major part of it. Greenhouse gases absorb and emit heat in the atmosphere, keeping Earth warm enough to support life. The human activities such as burning plastics, burning fossil fuels, are adding large amount of destroying the greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.

            So, as a result, in my opinion, we are the one making climate change. Because of some of our activities that destroying our Earth. And to overcome these condition or problem, better stop burning plastics and start planting trees.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities

                In our daily lives, we often feel the unequal rights and unequal opportunities of each other. And it’s like a slave. The feeling of no equal rights is like the feeling of being a slave. A slave that is not free, not free to do whatever he/she want to do.

                All of us want to have an equal right. To be treated as fair. Each of us had been dreaming of that. Because the feeling of having an equal right is like you are independent, like no problems to face. You can do whatever you want to do. You will be respected by others. And you can share what you want to share. Your opinion, your thoughts, judgement and what you know. You can have lots of friends. You can mingle to everyone with no buts and doubts. Also no special treatments to everyone because no rich no poor. You can use all public facilities. No discrimination.

                Every person has the right to equality. We are all created by God in fair and equal. So in our lives we must also live equal. To have an equal opportunities.

                 “Bakit ba kasi ang hirap mag-English?! Ang hirp hirap ng English! Pinagtatawanan ka pa pag wronggrammar ka! Lahat nalang may English! Sana mamatay na yang English Language na yan!"

We always hear those judgement to everybody. Especially to those who is weak and poor in speaking English Language.

            Can’t we not predict that one time or in future, English Language will help us in our problem? We all know that we have weaknesses. And one weakness is to speak in English Language. We are so brainless in terms of that.  That is our main problem in applying jobs, going to other country, and communicating others especially professionals and citizens of other country. Who knows that this problem we are saying is the one who will lead us to a better future and better life? We can explore anything and everything, we can be smart, we can do whatever we want to do, go wherever we want to go, get whatever we want, be whatever we want to be. And that’s through the use of English Language. It is very powerful that it can transform our world into better world, lots of people will be more educated, and lots of country will be rich.

            We must love our English Language. Don’t hate it because you’ll regret in the end if English language will hate you, will leave you and don’t want you to have a good life in future. Use this properly and give respect.
